CONDITION FOR THE IMPORTATION OF HORSES INTO
JORDAN FROM OTHER COUNTRIES
- Permission to import must be obtained from JORDAN Ministry of Agriculture Veterinary
Department before shipment leaves the exporting country.
- The horse must be subjected to the following blood test with negative results within
30 days prior to shipping date export:
i. Coggins Test for Equine Infectious Anaemia.
ii. Complement Fixation Test for Piroplasmosis, Babesia equine and Babesia Caballi.
iii. The Serum Neutralisation Test for Equine Viral Arthritis with negative result at a
dilution of 1 in 4 (this test required for male horses only).
iv. Serological testing for Equine Encephalitis with negative results.The above tests
to be carried out in a laboratory approved for that purpose by Veterinary
Department/Ministry of Agriculture.
- A fully completed import Permit Application form submitted to M.O.A. Veterinary Department.
- The horse shall be accompanied by an official Health Certificate issued by a
Veterinary Officer of the Government Veterinary Service. The Certificate should state
that:-
a. During the 3 months preceding exportation it has been on a holding under Veterinary
Supervision in the Country of dispatch and 30 days prior to dispatch in pre-export
isolation.
b. Within 24 hours of dispatch it was examined and showed no clinical sign of disease.
c. The horse comes from a country which :-
i. Venezuelan Equine Encephalomyelitis has not occurred during the last 2 years.
ii. Dourine has not occurred during the last 6 months.
iii. Glanders has not occurred during the last 6 months.
iv. Vesicular Stomatitis has not occurred during the last 6 months or the animal was
tested on a blood sample taken within 21 days of export by a virus neutralisation
test with negative result at 1 in 12.
d. The horse has not been in contact with equidae suffering from infectious disease in
the 15 days prior to exportation.
e. The horse has not been vaccinated against African Horse Sickness.
f. The horse shows no sign of contagious Equine Metritis (CEM) and it does not come from
a holding where there has been any suspicion of CEM during the past 2 months nor had
any contact indirectly of directly through coitus with equidae infected or suspected
in CEM.
On arrival in JORDAN the horse will be subjected to a minimum of 72 hours
isolation in an officially approved Isolation Centre and will be subjected to further
test at the discretion of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Should the horse fail any of the tests, or fail to comply with the conditions of
import it may be required to be re-exported at the owners expense. |
