Regional Control of Brucellosis

Description:

Brucellosis represents a major health problem in livestock in the region
Brucellosis is also a severe health hazard to human beings

 

Objective:

To reduce economic losses by improving Brucellosis control measures

 

Scope:

National, bilateral and trilateral activities are ongoing. However, coordination of control measures and efforts is necessary and must be encouraged.

 

Status:

Despite ongoing efforts to control Brucellosis in the region, the incidence of Brucellosis in humans and animals is high.

 

Tasks:

Epidemiological investigation and applied research (disease dynamics)
Improving vaccines: wider spectrum and long duration of immunity (e.g. oil-adjuvant and multivalent vaccines)
Coordinated vaccination campaigns
